History of Indy
ISU Service Dogs was created by Marie Koch & Hannah O’Flynn after Marie came up with the idea. They found the organization Heartland Service Dogs, located in Mokena, Illinois, to work with them. The constitution was written by adapting the SPVA constitution.

Marie Koch & Hannah O’Flynn become co-presidents, and Professor Dr. Rhykered at Illinois State University becomes the advisor for the organization.
August 2013
Abe (Black goldendoodle) and Indy (black labradoodle) become the first dogs to enter our program!
Indy teams up with Paws Giving Independence and gets two dogs from PGI. They attend training classes in Peoria, Illinois, and work under PGI, which will then become Indy's parent organization.
2014-2015
Exec board is created, and four more dogs join the program!
2015-2016
Exec board expands and more students start to join!

2016-Present
Indy continues to train service dogs through their parent organization, Paws Giving Independence. Indy's student trainers focus on community outreach events, fundraisers, and training dogs on Illinois State University campus.
