How long does it take for a service dog to be fully certified?
Training typically takes two years for a service dog to become certified. Most of our dogs start at 3 months until they are 24 months.
Do we train personal dogs or service dogs?
No, we do not train personal dogs! Paws Giving Independence carefully screens all dogs for the program and makes sure their temperament and nature fit our program. They are carefully observed for the entirety of their training, which is around two years. We are under the ADI and follow all of their guidelines and requirements. These dogs are then covered under our insurance for the duration of their training (which is conducted by our certified trainers). We are unable to train anyone's personal pet. More information can be found on Paws Giving Independence website.
What kinds of breeds are most common?
We use any breed of dog in our program. However, the most common are Labrador Retrievers, Poodles, Golden Retrievers, and doodles!

Do you use rescues at all?
Yes, we do rescue dogs! Some of our dogs are rescues, while others are from breeders. Typically, we get dogs at an early age (8-12 weeks) and will get them from rescues and/or breeders.
